The Garden of Gethsemane – such a sad, beautiful place.
Poppies everywhere
It was just like being in a sample sale where they sold gorgeous patent bags at 90% off and you had absolutely no money. Imagine the sadness? Then multiply that by a million!
So peaceful, quiet, and somber
The Via Dolorosa, where Jesus carried the cross
Beautiful flowers abounded
Outside the Garden of Gethsemane – business as usual.
This is the common street food: bread shaped like an elongated donut, topped with sesame seeds
See?
And here is my friend the General, showing you the ginormous bread. He is very gallant and dashing, while his wife, Tita Baby, is extremely and breathtakingly beautiful.
We had a really fast, abrupt, 15 minute lunch! My plate: pasta and fish fillet
Also some salad and a bit of bread
Then we went to this really old chapel, the Church of the Nativity
Lots of gilded things
Squillion-year-old painted stuff
Me and my sister looking cheeky
Beautiful stained glass depicting the Nativity
And outside – bags embroidered with Jerusalem. Souvenirs at a pittance, suspiciously looking like they came from China
Back at Ramada hotel, we had more buffet dinner: fish, beef stew, mashed potato, and some cute, round little carrots
Some salad, hummus, and eggplant
They had really small apples
And in lieu of butter (since they were into the kosher thing), we had margarine!
Cheers,
Daryl
