Danks St. Depot, Sydney Airport

My first Danks St. Depot experience wasn't thrilling at all. I was in a rush cause I had to board soon,so I had to shoot for those pre-made sandwiches. I can quite exactly remember what I got but I remember the chicken being totally bland and what's worse, dry. And seriously, from that time on, I really doubted that I would want to touch anything from there.

But you see, I've got this friend who works there, and he told me to drop by when I was going to leave for the Fils. And yes, I did. He suggested what to have and I was up to it! Oh, he shouted me the meal too! Cheers! As always, no true brekkie goes down without a mugga cap!

Good food mag+ great crusty bread with epic toppings+

Royal Copenhagen Ice Cream and Zumbo, Manly

It's time for a photo dump.

My hair was so flat and messed up from the wind.
So pay more attention to the ice cream!:)
The flavor itself was called Royal Copenhagen.
It had honeycomb and that sort of malted milk taste.
Love it is.

Mocha Almond Fudge
and
Tropical Passionfruit.

Check plus plus plus plus.

With the addition of slivered almonds,
and hot chocolate fudge.

Well, before all the shibang about modern day ice cream and desserts, there was Royal Copenhagen. It's honest to goodness ice cream. They even have a waffle contraption out back where they hand-roll the cones. That's why they're so golden crunchy and flavorful. Then the ice cream is heck creamy like you wouldn't even imagine.  Not to mention there's a self-serve counter where you could douse your ice cream with caramel, hot fudge, slivered almonds, and sprinkles. This is old school bliss. Classic.

Ola, Zumbo.

Are you sick of my ever recurring Zumbo posts? I have to admit, I love that man and his pastry. But this time, Zumbo was a rather unexpected disappointment. Like I've said last time, it was quite unfortunate when I reached Zumbo in Balmain cause they've ran out of macarons. This time, it was nearly 4pm and I was glad to see the display cabinet still filled with trays of macarons. I was anxious to give the new flavors a try.

Moo Gourmet Burgers, Newtown

Moo Gourmet Burgers on King Street.
I've heard great things about Moo Burgers. How their chips are perfectly crisp, how their burgers are so tall, how the milkshakes are to die for, and how crusty the sourdough bun is. It's my second time in Newtown for the week, and might I just say that I absolutely love Newtown. I'd say it's a slightly more hip and cheaper version of beloved Surry Hills.

Artwork inside

My friends in the courtyard.
The ambiance was laid-back. I'd say it's one of those places where I'd want to catch up with my friends after the stressful week that has passed.* There are sturdy bulky wood tables inside paired with colorful chairs and couches. Kids' artwork adorn the walls. There's a courtyard outside and a black wall where you could creatively express yourself with the pieces of chalk lying around.

There are plenty of tasty sounding burgers on the menu which made it tricky to pick what each one of us wanted to have.

Vanilla and Strawberry Milkshakes- $5 each
Did you know, when you head to Moo on Mondays and order a burger and chips, you get a milkshake for free? FREE?! FREE?! Yes, you got it! I haven't had a milkshake in the longest time for obvious reasons but it was my binge day for the week! That explains everything! It wasn't as chilled as I would've wanted it to be and it would be more epic if they were thicker too! Other than that, they were slurping slurping good.

Avocado Cake, Lia's Cakes in Season

Sitting pretty waiting for me to take a slice and indulge.
I'm an avocado freak. I love guacamole, avocado ice cream, and smoothies. Then there's avocado with toasted bread, avo in my caesar salad, and my avo in my sandwiches. Crab and avo, tomato and avo, shrimp and avo, salmon and avo, fried egg and avo, oh let's just put it this way, I can't get enough AVO.

I got to Kapitolyo to get some grub from Charlie's Grind and Grill which is totally legendary. So anyway, one time after dining at Charlie's, we noticed a cake shop next door and it had an ad which read Avocado Cake. No words were needed to be said, we were getting one.

Crunchy pistachios

If you can't see, it's a 2 layer cake! More ICING in between!
It appears like your ordinary cake, the icing and the chiffon. But wait till you take a bite, it's very moist and tastes completely like avocado. It's an avocado explosion. The pistachio nuts on top give that contrast and crunch that would just encourage you to eat more. I love the fact that the cake isn't too sweet like the normal ones you get. The only improvement? I'd like the pistachio nuts to be caramelized, that would just elevate the presentation of the whole cake.

Discovering the Avocado Cake is a total revelation. Well, I guess you should expect nothing short of that  when it's a recipe that has been passed down from generation to generation!

I'll be seeing eating more of the Avocado Cake really soon. Their other cakes look equally good, I'll give em a try next time. One last thing, they make deliveries too, PERFECT.
