Mercato Centrale: One Last Hurrah with My Tankers.

I once called myself a DLSU Green Tanker.

So.. what is a tanker? A dedicated swimmer who wakes up in time for 5:30am training every weekday. Training isn't just all about swimming, there's gym, running, and water polo too. But there's still a lot more to it, there are bonds and friendships. And the last two things the most important.

The Saturday morning before I left, my friends and I had a bloody good pig out session at Mercato Centrale.* It's no secret how much we love to eat. Chances are, whenever you see a "food trip" post, I was with the tankers. They're so keen to try new things which makes everything an adventure.**

There were no breaks, everybody was overly full. Two thumbs up.

#1 Manang's Chicken
I liked it a lot! The sesame seeds made everything ultimately Asian. Though I liked it, I my heart still goes to Bon Chon. (click here and here) But for the price, I definitely have to give props!:)

A Food Trip in Chinatown

I'm watching Eat, Pray, Love right now. At this point, I'm really convinced that I have to push things to their limits. I need to enjoy life, no pleasing other people cause that wouldn't bring me anywhere, it leave me miserable.

Okay, I might be too into this movie right now. Just MIGHT.

Yesterday, was a day like no other, I could swear that it's been the most I've ate in ages. I woke up to my usual sad bowl of oats, scooted off to ISCAHM. There was a lot of tasting when it came to cooking up some Asian dishes. And it was off to Binondo for me to meet up with my old team mates in LaSalle. They're such a blast, and they're always up for the adventure (especially when it comes to food). Love them.

Beef mami with their special SWEET sauce.

Big chunky siomai.
First stop, we went to the popularly known, Masuki- such a classic. What else would there be to order other than the famous beef mami? I headed straight for it even though I had a relatively full stomach from the tasting and eating from the cooking class. My friends had some siomai as well which I was terrified of cause of the big bulky chunks of fat. Yes, I'm not the biggest fan of fat, oil, and grease.

So What Would You Consider As A Pig Out?

Chicken Charlie. Ristras. Serenitea. Yes, it's the J. Abad Santos Trio.

I love having foodie friends who are much like me- they aren't afraid to indulge and try new things.

And this is where my friend Cheska comes in.

It's been forever since our last food trip, and Thank GOD we actually had time to catch up and everything!

Oh and this is the day that I totally said BYE BYE to my diet!

This is me being impatient.

WEDGES.

First restaurant on our agenda, Chicken Charlie which is constantly being raved about these days especially with this fried chicken frenzy! We started with a side of wedges which had a crisp brown skin, the sauce was much like ketchup with a certain plus pluses. Would it have possibly come from a freezer bag? YES, a definite YES.
