Ho Hung Kee, Hong Kong

So I've been TRYING and TRYING to upload photos of and write a blog about a meal we had at this restaurant called Power Long in Xiamen. The food wasn't great and it was no epic gustatory experience, so I wasn't exactly itching to do it. The good thing is that it seems as if the invisible fairy godmother of 3748miles did not want a blog written about such a dull thing, and so the system kept lagging. Therefore, I've decided to skip it entirely and leave the photos in the bowels of my Mac, never to be published... Hahaha.

ON TO THE GOOD STUFFFFF!!!!!!

Our first stop in HK (yay, HK!!!!) was dinner at Ho Hung Kee.

It's recommended in the 2011 Michelin Guide. Hong Kong food really is the best-- you can get great chow for almost any budget.

Are you ready for the Ho Hung Kee experience?

Myron's Place, Greenbelt 5

This is what I thought of today.

The weather was terrific today. Nothing brings my spirits up like a nice sunny yet breezy day.

1. I get to wear shorts and sunnies.
2. All the more reason to wear flip flops.
3. No cold sores or windburn.
4. I don't eat every 10 minutes.*

Honey Rye Bread & Butter

ROASTED GARLIC FOR THE WIN.
The weather was also great when we dined at Myron's Place. When we were in highschool, we'd always go dine at Myron's at Rockwell.** What did we used to have? Hmm. I remember we had a Seared Tuna Dish with Pasta once. And there's nothing I could remember more than the roasted bulbs of garlic that we would always smother on the bread.

Being overly hungry, we ordered a feast.*** Daryl with her oysters and steak, there's nothing new. These are the things she always craves. Whenever we're out to eat, the first thing that comes out of her mouth is- I WANT STEAK.

Mochiko: Mochi and Ice Cream

Mochiko at Mercato Centrale
In the midst of unpacking, I found a Mochiko flyer in my little black book.* I know I should get started blogging about my finds here in Australia again, but I still have so many posts up my sleeve.

I first tried Mochiko at Mercato Centrale when I went with my mum. We brought a box of 6 home for the whole family to try. And of course, nothing excites the family like a newly found dessert.

We had:
Green Tea, Red Bean, Black Sesame
Chocolate, Caramel, and Vanilla Rose
Well, the texture of the mochi wrapper was fine, but because it was folded over  to wrap the ice cream, some parts were annoyingly thick. The people at Mochiko suggested to thaw it for 2 minutes before eating but even after 2 minutes, they were hard as rocks.

Mercato Centrale: One Last Hurrah with My Tankers.

I once called myself a DLSU Green Tanker.

So.. what is a tanker? A dedicated swimmer who wakes up in time for 5:30am training every weekday. Training isn't just all about swimming, there's gym, running, and water polo too. But there's still a lot more to it, there are bonds and friendships. And the last two things the most important.

The Saturday morning before I left, my friends and I had a bloody good pig out session at Mercato Centrale.* It's no secret how much we love to eat. Chances are, whenever you see a "food trip" post, I was with the tankers. They're so keen to try new things which makes everything an adventure.**

There were no breaks, everybody was overly full. Two thumbs up.

#1 Manang's Chicken
I liked it a lot! The sesame seeds made everything ultimately Asian. Though I liked it, I my heart still goes to Bon Chon. (click here and here) But for the price, I definitely have to give props!:)
