Bebek Bangil, Bali

As you probably already know from reading Jakarta x Bali Photo Diary and Mucking x Eating x Travelling Around I travelled to Bali over the summer holidays. Bali is like nowhere I've ever been to, there are a lot of historical sights and yet you get chill time at the beach too. We went further inland, a fair bit away from the beaches to Ubud. Ubud is popular for being the backdrop for Eat, Pray, Love.

Rice patties in Bebek Bangil.
We had dinner in one of those small hut things. The place was so peaceful and quiet, the rice fields were all around. We also watched the sunset from there, it was quite the experience.

This is what Bebek Bangil is popular for, their fried duck. It was paired with the traditional yellow rice from Ubud and an array of other condiments. Wash that down with some Bintang!

Christmas FEAST

Every 24th of December, I'm the master of the kitchen.

Nobody could say otherwise.

This Christmas was a bit of a whirlwind.

It was chaos. It was quite the rush.

I spent 2 hours slaving in the kitchen- I usually spend half a day.

Despite that, we had a lovely and might I say simple simple dinner.

And as always, I try to make it better than the previous year.

Dinner Last Night.

I think my mom is a crazy perfectionist. She has a list of things in her head that she has to accomplish from day to day. You'd be caught dead being with her if in any case that she didn't finish her tasks. Despite what transpires during the day, we could always count on her to deliver us a smashingly good dinner.

So.. You might be wondering what she cooks from day to day that makes me swoon. Nothing ultimately posh or extravagant, but dishes filled with love and passion. Chos!

Tonight, we have more or less, Filipino Fare!

Kare Kare packed with veg!
& PEANUT BUTTER.
What would Kare Kare be without Bagoong?
First, Kare Kare which is my favorite Filipino Dish (which I still don't know how to cook despite going to ISCAHM every Saturday!) I love PEANUT BUTTER. I'm a PEANUT BUTTER FREAK actually. Yeah, my mom dollops a wad of peanut butter, straight from the jar. Gotta love it. More on peanut butter next time.
