Making Pizza at Home

Best thing about making your pizza is that everything is ultimately customisable. Though my dough needs a little more work, I was rather content with the toppings and combos that I came up with. Obviously I made quite the mess, but it's all good fun.

Your typical hawaiian pizza except with turkey bacon. Our house definitely can't live without this flavour- both my sisters demand it. They however don't like bell pepper, but that's for my grandpa anyway.

Smoked fish x caramelised onion x mushroom x fried eggs. This is what I'd call the Filipino Sinangag Pizza. Tinapa is definitely one of my favourite filipino things, it's smoked milkfish. It tastes rather different from your typical smoked haddock or trout.

Well, that's it for my pizzas. I'll be putting up the recipe for pizza dough once I've perfected it. This is one of those things that I will be making a couple of times over until I'm fully satisfied.

Napoli in Bocca, Haberfield

It's no secret at all that Italian food is my absoute favorite. I'm always up for it whenever, but definitely not wherever though. I tend to be really picky when it comes to that. The best go-to places for Italian feasts are Leichhardt and Haberfield, I believe.

So one evening the fam headed down to Haberfield. My first time btw. Left and right there were a lot of Italians chatting and having dinner. That was obviously a good sign! My uncle had been to Napoli in Bocca before and he claims that it's fantastic. And he has high standards! Got me sooooo excited. Just as we stepped in the restaurant, it was heading into what I would picture as a traditional Italian trattoria- huge wood-fire oven and the works. Some of the people there reminded me of the folks on Jersey Shore. hahahaha.

Tourne, Fort Strip

I always enjoy dining with my friends Cheska and Brian.* They're cheery pleasant people who are undeniably up for a new foodie experience. Want proof? Here we go, Mercato CentraleGreenhills area,
Chinatown. So it was a definite must to have a meal with them since I'm in Manila.

I asked them to suggest a restaurant since they're such good food hunters. HAHA. They suggested a newly opened restaurant called Tourne, duh. I googled Tourne but there hardly was any info about the restaurant except the fact that it's owned by a chef that trained in the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu.**

We got there early.
So it was still pretty empty.

A quote by Alice Waters up on the wall.
The ambiance is elegant, all white, clean, and pristine. Despite that, it was cozy too. The staff look prim and proper. And the huge window allowed customers to peer into the kitchen to watch the chefs in action.

Krazy Garlik

So the other night my friends and I headed over to Resorts World for a GOOD TIME. I had just spent the whole day at Greenbelt with my fabbity-fab friend James and I had yet to eat lunch or dinner. It was 9 o'clock when my friends and I arrived at Resorts World and I was starving like THERE WAS NO TOMORROW. I wanted to eat the buffet but one of us had a discount card at Krazy Garlik so that's where we ended up eating.

Chloe and I split our orders (as usual). Here's what the TWO of us (yes, we ate it all!!) had:

Sopa de ajo: Spanish style baked garlic soup with bread
We started out with sopa de ajo. It was rather disappointing for me, not because it was bad sopa de ajo but merely because I am simply not a fan of sopa de ajo. :D

Sopa de ajo-wise, however, it was fairly tasty and oily enough to escape the label of "garlic and water." Also, by "with bread," they mean chunks of bread already floating in your soup.

A Taste of L.A.

I'm anything but a pizza person, but when it comes to pizza from A Taste of L.A., my mouth's wide open! Had dinner there the other day with my mum and darling little sister! Such a treat after a stressful week.

First off, we had oysters Rockefeller. If you're anything in my life (friend, BFF, etc), you must know that I LOVE oysters. Oysters, softshell crab, sashimi, chocolate, and wagyu= enough to keep me happy forever. I thoroughly enjoyed their oysters! Very clean-tasting, fresh, and perfectly complemented by the bechamel sauce and cheese! Speaking of oysters-- if you're an oyster fan, you MUST try Sunday lunch buffet at Mario's (but more on that next time).
Perfection!
What is insanity? Aside from doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result, it's... going to Taste of LA without ordering their pizza. This I can promise: you will not be disappointed. They serve the best pizza, rivaled only by Bellini's!

Their pizza has a wonderfully, WONDERFULLY thin crust. So thin that I tell myself it doesn't have any carbs!!! They have a lot of cool gourmet flavors; one even has lamb on it. My siblings love that lamb one! Sadly I don't eat lamb.. :(
Spinach, ham and cheese. DELISH!
The cheese is not to heavy and everything is just in harmony. Cue clouds in your imagination and Pachelbel's Canon in D. This is pizza heaven!

My sister and mom split a steak! :) They said it was good!

I ordered osso buco. I love osso buco from Cyma and also my own... This one rather disappointed me :| The meat was tender and juicy but the sauce was too heavy and bland and lacking in... tomatoes?

Then we had dessert! The chocolate was SOOO overrated-- the menu made it sound like something epic but it was definitely NOT! Quite pricey too, 200 something for a nothing-special, rather dry cake..

We also ordered bibingka! Now this was good! It had lots of duck eggs in it (which I also don't eat) but I'm guessing that's a good thing for diehard bibingka fans!

I would just like to say that I downright HATE this new blogger setup; it's making it really inconvenient to upload pictures! :(

Also (completely off-topic) I hope that WHAT'S MEANT TO BE WILL TRULY FIND IT'S WAY. Like, I hope that no matter what stupid things people do, even if they diverge really far from the path they're supposed to take, there's this bigger, better, indefatigable plan that will WIN in the end! That you'll be with the person you're meant to be with, even if you held on to the wrong person too long or if you hurt the right one too much. That's all! Hahaha! I just hope we all end up with the one we're SUPPOSED to end up with!
