Mr. Jones, Greenbelt 5

OLD SCHOOL DINER.
Wouldn't you agree that it's one of those classy generic names?

The concept of this 1960's (but a tad futuristic) diner blew us away. We thought it was inspired. The names of the dishes were really creative too.

A serving of Tater Tots- Split.
3 Kinds.
Broccoli& Cheddar
Jamon Serrano& Brie
Gorgonzola and Walnut
with Jalapeno Cheddar Dip and Chives and Sour Cream.

See what I mean by it's all potato?
I always tend to associate Tater Tots with Domino's cause that's what I loved ordering when I was a kid. Times have changed, and the folks at Mr. Jones reinvented it. They called it- Tater Tots 3000 to the Max! It's a very playful and childish. They were pillows of hash brown with a touch of cheese. Not quite what we were expecting after reading the palatable description on the menu. Each Tater Tot was different from each other but hardly distinguishable cause the majority of it was POTATO! Thumbs down.

Dogs? in Bed.
Next up, Two Dogs in Bed. They looked really pale and sad but our dear friend seemed like he didn't mind at all. But he did say that there wasn't anything special about it.

Reuben's Diner Classic
Slow Braised Corned Beef Brisket, Russian Dressing
Chardonnay Soaked Sauerkraut, Emmental Cheese on
Toasted Rye with Dijon Mustard and Horseradish.
Then there was the Reuben Diner Classic that Daryl and I split, AGAIN.* I personally adore the Reuben**, but maybe just not this one. The corned beef turned out really dry and was comparable to the canned ones. The fries on the other hand came out hot and crisp but they seemed cheap- in a McDonald's Twister Fries kind of way!

It looked so nice but it was a bummer.
This is definitely one of those restaurants that disappointed me. (But everybody likes it, so is it just me?) I expected a lot since it was in the Rainforest Group along with Chelsea***, Momo, and Museum Cafe.

*We always split the dishes we order so that we get a fair sized portion of both dishes!

** I'm a sandwich freak, and I think the Reuben at Almon Marina packs quite a punch without doing the same to your wallet.

***If you haven't tried Chelsea, you better get your butt down there! It's a Market Cafe and they serve delectable gourmet grub! Branches in Serendra and Podium.
